Illegal immigrants

Laws were made for a purpose, they were not made to be ignored and broken. We have to be people with integrity in order for people to have respect for our criminal and judicial system. If we tell our children or others that it is wrong to break laws, but then justify breaking one based on our perception of unfairness, etc., what are we really saying? We are saying that, really, we all just need to determine for ourselves what is right and wrong. Eventually that will lead to chaos. Additionally, what impression do we give if we are seen breaking a law or supporting the violation of a law by others? We will be giving place to questioning, mistrust, and dismissal of our integrity and authority, and whether our words or actions can truly ever be trusted, about anything.

Whether we agree with a law or not should not affect our actions, whether our actions are seen by others or not. The basis of our actions needs to be Godly values and principles. The spiritual realm is real and all of our actions seen or unseen affect it and lead to consequences. Seriously, we need to obey all the laws, without excuse. Yes, even the speed limits and seat belt laws. I personally do my best to practice what I am sharing. Do I ever go over the speed limit? Yes, I have gone over the speed limit, but I no longer do intentionally and when I realize that I am, I slow down.

Obviously, I am opposed to illegal immigration. Do I care about the people? Absolutely! In addition to the fact that I oppose it because of the fact that the law is being broken, I oppose it because of the negative affect that it is having on our society. Justice is not being served when illegal immigrants have better access to such things as health care than some of the citizens of this state, nor is it when our tax dollars provide other benefits for them.

What is the answer? Enforce the laws we already have, and make financial penalties for breaking the laws sufficient to ensure that hiring them is not even a consideration for employers, because of the risk. If the work is not available those who are here illegally will go home on their own. At the same time we need to make sure that our borders are safe, because of the risk of terrorists. All criminal illegal immigrants should be deported.

So what do we do to help those employers that need those workers in order to stay in business? We work with the federal government to get the whole visa process cleaned up. How do we do that? By creating a system where the employers are responsible for all the background checks and other work the Federal government typically does, which is currently, incredibly backlogged.

I know the people of Montana, and I know that if we work as a team putting a plan together and doing the work, that its not that great of a challenge. How would we deal with the likely argument against it of: making mistakes and letting in people that should not have been let in? By once again, by being responsible, if mistakes are made the party responsible for ensuring the accuracy of required documentation may lose privileges such as being able to hire visa workers and/or face financial penalties. Many types of government work are being outsourced and I know we can develop a workable plan that would be agreeable to the Federal government. Yes, there are details that would need to be worked out, but I know it is possible. And yes, I believe that state government helping free enterprise can do a much better job than the federal government. For this reason, it is nearly always true that the closer you keep the work and decision making to those impacted by it the most, the more efficient and effective it is.

The end result everyone wins. Only qualified people enter the state. Our taxes are not burdened by illegals. Employers get the workers they need. People that want to come and make money for there families are able to, without worry.
